“I walked into a discount video display store that ONLY carries Home Theater gear. For literally years I have hated every plasma display I have ever come across. YES, Plasmas have the best black levels and rich colors, but it was trumped by how grainy and pixelated the displays showed in all demos and even in a friend’s home. I only liked LCD and more recently LED panels.
When we were shown some TVs there was one that stood out, which was the Samsung 560 58″. I didn’t see what technology it was, but it was beautiful. I asked the store expert, “So is this LCD or LED?” He said, “This is a new 3rd generation Plasma.” I said, “Are you kidding? I hate plasma! This is the nicest picture I’ve ever seen in a plasma.” It took a few minutes to come to grips with the fact that I was REALLY liking this plasma. I took a day to think about it and then we came back and purchased it. It is probably the nicest display I have ever seen. The eyes are what tell the true tale more than any review and you just have to see it for yourself. The details in movie mode are outstanding. The colors are wonderful and the blacks are very rich. I tested a few Blu-Ray movies on this and it is AMAZING. I see more detail in this display than I ever did with my previous Hitachi 51″ Projection HD (which is not a bad system aside from the clunky cabinet).
The Sony Bravias and Samsung LCDs are great displays and I was waiting to buy one of those, but this plasma is astounding and you won’t be disappointed. This is perfect for the hardcore movie watcher.”
“I’ve had this TV a couple weeks now, and just love it. With this model, you get many of the features of the higher series Samsungs, but it is at a price very close to the 550 (which does not have all the features that this one has.) The picture is excellent. I’ve been very pleased and plan on buying the wireless connector so I can try out the web features.”
“Purchased this through Amazon a few weeks ago, got the lowest price available so far ($1759), and for that price with the free shipping and no sales tax it’s a bargain. Stepping up from a Samsung 42 inch ED, which we were very happy with. The colors on the new set are stunning compared the the 42 incher. I was a bit apprehensive purchasing a new Samsung with all the talk of humming noises, but I happy to say this set is very quiet so far. Delivery was quick (CEVA) and they were right on time. Box was in good shape and the TV was in perfect condition. The thing came out of the box already mounted on the stand, so to get the set able to show a picture only took minutes. Sound is ok, definitely not surround but good enough for me. Very attractive set and stand. If you are thinking about buying one, go for it!”
