- Digital MPEG Noise Reduction Circuit, which reduces MPEG artifacts such as “block noise” and “mosquito noise” caused by the compression used to maximize bandwidth in digital broadcasts
- Digital Temporal 3-D Noise Reduction (pixel-by-pixel basis)
- Digital Motion Adaptive I/P (interlace-to-progressive), as well as Edge Adaptive I/P deinterlacing conversion, which improves resolution in video with motion
Cinema Black Pro
Cinema Black Pro is an exclusive Sony function designed to improve contrast expression especially in darker scenes. The Cinema Black Pro function is enabled by using either one or both of two features - Iris Control and Advanced Iris. The Iris Control function sets the maximum size of the iris opening and sets the overall level of brightness. There are several settings that allow the user to adjust the iris opening to best match the room lighting conditions. The Advanced Iris function is a dynamic adjustment that automatically opens and closes the iris according to the gamma level of the picture on the screen. There are several different adjustments. The “High” setting is ideal for movies and music video content. And the “Off” setting works great for sports and news content.
HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) and PC Connectivity

“I originally bought my first 42″ Sony LCDRP-HDTV for about $1100.00. Then 1 year later I picked up the next generation for $698.88. Now I just got my 3rd but a 50″ Sony LCD-RPTV (HD). These sets are the best value PERIOD. I was considering getting a Sony 40″ LCD 1080p TV but it was like $1600.00. Along with the fact my wife likes to have the Subtitles on and on the regular LCD TVs the type is very jagged.
I watch a lot of movies (blu-ray) along with playing a lot of video games. All I can tell you is watching Blu-Rays (even at just 1080i) which this set displays is mind blowing in quality! I have had these sets for over 2 years with no issues, and I keep buying more.
I challenge anyone to find a set for $698.00 (which is what I paid for this 50″ NEW) Sony has the best picture BAR NONE.”
“We love the TV and the price was great onsale for 1399.00 plus free shipping. No complaints besides how long it took to be shipped. It took almost 2 weeks,but, the money savings was well worth the wait!! “
“There are plenty of comments already posted about this tv, so I will focus on the delivery. EAGLE delivered this product, and everything about their service is subpar. Amazon sends an e-mail after purchase, informing you that Eagle will deliver the tv with White Glove service, and that they will contact you to schedule a time. I had the tv delivered to the loading docks at my office, so no delivery time would be necessary. Unfortunately, on the day of the delivery, no tv ever showed up. EAGLE dropped the ball, and when I called to inquire, I was chastised for not calling earlier. When the tv showed up 3 days later, it looked as if someone had sat on the box. All of the styrofoam was broken, and the box was smashed on all sides. Again, I contacted Eagle, and was informed that unless the tv didn’t work, there was no problem. I was told that if there was a problem with the tv, Amazon would ship out a replacement.
Take this into consideration when purchasing large electronic items from Amazon. Amazon may be incredibly awesome, but their choice of shipper for this product is anything but.”
