The LT-46149 sports a handsome black-and-silver presentation that blends well with a variety of room decors. The picture is remarkably crisp, all that you’d expect in a high-end television and perhaps a little more.

It’s the sound that stands out. Sixteen speakers aim to give you true surround sound without all the clutter. It works. If you want an authentic room theatre, you’ll want to spend the money for that. The iSP utilizes walls or other surfaces to reflect the left, right and surround sound beams to the listener. The effect of this sound beam reflection, is that the side and back walls of the room become virtual speakers for the complete surround sound reproduction. (see diagram).

“I bought this samsung DLP tv refurbished from secondact.com for 799 plus shipping. First impressions were that the picture through my xbox was beautiful (switched from crappy old 36 in sdtv). I can actually read the words on my games now

The second day I realized that I had the problem that a lot of people had. The screen was bowed or pincussioned… not sure which one. If there’s a perfect horizontal line on the screen, when it gets to either the left or right edge it goes up, creating a kind of smile shaped effect. I was immediately beside myself as I had just spent quite a bit of money on this tv.

The tv has a 90 day warranty from samsung so I began by calling their customer support. I called and got through to an easy to understand American representative very quickly and explained my problem. Even though it’s refurbished all i had to do was fax in my receipt and tomorrow I will be calling to set up an appointment for a technician to come directly to my house to fix this problem. I will update this after the tech comes to see what happens but the customer support from samsung was amazing and I love that i don’t have to ship out my tv somewhere and not get it back for a month as other manufacturers might.

If that gets fixed perfectly the only thing wrong with this tv is the audio. If turned up to normal to high-normal listening range it has a definite buzz, which the technician may also fix when he gets here. This isn’t a huge deal to me because for the price i payed i wasn’t looking for great audio without getting outside speakers anyways.

If on a budget this is a great tv to get as i see it!

“This TV is absolutely wonderful as you may have noticed from other reviews. I have had this for about 1 year and have had no problems. The fan is so quiet and the picture quality in HD and black levels are great. I have an XBOX 360 hooked up with a component inputs and the games look spectacular. Coupled with an elegant stand, it really makes the living room. One other bonus is the DVI and HDMI inputs for true digital picture and sound from higher end DVD and HD boxes, and input of computers. Surfing the internet on 50″ couldn’t be more fun.

Downsides I would say are the heftiness of moving this TV and sound inputs. Find a good spot and leave it there as it does have a glass bottom for the stand. It could use some digital sound inputs as well such as optical or coaxial.

Other than that all you do is plug it in and go. It looks perfect right out of the box. It does not produce much heat at all which is also a benefit if you have it in a smaller room with many other a/v products attached.

This TV has been the best a/v product purchase I have ever made. DLP will continue to be the leader in picture quality and price from here on.”

This TV is powered up an average of 6+ hours every day and the bulb is still bright and again never had a problem. Like other reviewers noted the DVI and HDMI inputs are nice to have, the picture quality is very good, it has a bright display, but on the downside the unit is heavy and would need at least two people to move safely and it doesn’t support 1080p, which at the time of purchase was pricey and not widely available. “I bought this television after doing some pretty extensive research. I had almost decided on a Samsung, but after going to the store and looking at some of them, I decided that the Samsungs were way too glossy for my taste. I saw the 40″ version of this television on display at a store, and it looked fantastic. Very sharp picture, not glossy. The power saving features and having seen how good it looks in person got me very close to a decision, and the final piece of the puzzle was that it would fit on the stand I already have. That might sound silly, but it’s another $200-$300 for a decent stand. My stand is 20″ wide, and has about an 3/4″ lip on the edge. The stand on the Sony is about 18″ wide, and lifts the TV up over the lip, so it worked out quite nicely.

The service from Amazon was great on this. The free scheduled delivery worked out great. The company that delivered it (CEVA, I beleive) showed up early, and carried it up the stairs to the third floor for me. They offered to unpack it, which I declined, wanting to do it myself to make sure I could save the box for moving purposes.

It took me about 30 minutes to get the TV unpacked, the stand attached, and the TV up and running. Keep in mind, I was doing this by myself…it would have been quicker with a helper.

The picture on this TV is simply awesome! I watched The Descent on Blu-ray as my first movie, mainly because it’s a very dark movie, and I wanted to see what the black levels were like. The Sony did not disappoint. Most of the movie is set in dark caves, and most of the time, I couldn’t even see the edge between the dark movie and the edge of the letterbox.

The only bit of weirdness I’ve had, was at the very beginning of the movie, there’s a white water rafting scene that looked very strange to me at first. It turns out it was because the director of the movie had been using camera movement for dramatic effect, and the MotionFlow technology was canceling it out! It was easily fixed just by turning off MotionFlow. I plan on leaving it off, as I have noticed no blurring issues even with it off.

The only thing a wee bit lacking on this TV is the sound, but it’s not horrible, and honestly, if you’re willing to shell out the cash for this TV, then you should be willing to shell out for a good sound system too. Overall, I highly recommend this TV.”

“So far, my experience with Sony’s KDL-46V4100 has been very good. Picture is excellent, after about 4 months I have had no problems.

The only dilemma I had was user error - at first I had some older DVD players which would not function on the Composite input to the TV. I finally had Sony service come out to show me that my older players, even though they had composite output, were not compatible with this television (duh). But, I had one newer player than worked just fine. Service could have charged me $100 for the visit, but they didn’t, the technician was patient with my ignorance.

So I would rate my local service provider for Sony very highly. Quite a shocker.”

“I reseached HD TVs and narrowed it down to Samasung or Sony 42 - 46 LCD for my living room. I did not like the glossy Samsung Screen but liked vivid color in the store.

I chose Sony because Best Buy had and awesome deal (I believe December 5th). I got a Sony kdl46v5100 TV, Sony PS3, Blue Ray Movie and PS3 game for $950 and 4 yr extended waranty for under $200.

The color was excellent and 120Hz is a lot better than 60HZ models

Digital tuner works great with indoor Terk antenna ( I live in a hilly, wooded, remote area).

Blue Ray movies and PS3 games picture quality is amazing in all lighting situations.

I bought a Panasonic HD digital camcorder that shoots in Cinema mode and the play back quality using HDMI cable to this TV is amazing compared to standard LCD TV a few years older!
