Discover big-screen elegance. Discover Panasonic’s PT-61LCX65 high-definition liquid-crystal projection TV, a perfectly flat, 61-inch set that puts the glory of high-definition television right before your eyes. More than 5 full feet across, measured diagonally, the PT-61LCX65 offers a native resolution of 1,280 x 720 and a built-in ATSC (DTV) tuner so you’ll be set to receive free HD broadcasts right out of the box. More pixels translate into less stair-stepping artifacts, so curved and diagonal image edges look smooth and natural.

The set offers a total of 12 separate inputs, including 3 component-video inputs, an HDMI digital video input for a direct-digital connection with a DTV set-top box, and a front-panel PC input capable of VGA, SVGA, or compressed XGA resolution. A handy flash-memory slot is perfect for viewing digital slide shows of your favorite photos right off your digital camera (accepts 8 MB to 1 GB SD Cards).

A built-in CableCARD slot lets you receive standard-definition and high-definition digital broadcasts via a small card–no bulky set-top cable box required. (Contact your cable company to find out if they offer this service.)

The PT-61LCX65 is considerably less bulky than most rear-projection televisions and consumes less energy. Further, LCD displays don’t suffer from misconvergence or flicker, like their CRT counterparts. The Panasonic multimedia display incorporates thin-film transistor (TFT) technology, also known as active matrix, to improve color reproduction, eliminate ghosting, and boost response speed.

The set’s 100-watt HID (High Intensity Discharge) lamp is easily replaceable, extending the life of the set well beyond the life of a single lamp. The TV’s 2-way stereo speakers are powered by 15 watts per channel, and BBE ViVA HD3D Sound makes sure every program sounds its fullest and liveliest.

Many TVs force you to cycle through every video input in sequence when you want to change inputs. This can result in pushing the “video” button 5 or 6 times before you reach your desired source. The PT-61LCX65 lets you select video inputs directly so you can jump right to the input you need.

HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is a lossless, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface to link the set with any audio/video source (such as a set-top box, DVD player, or AV receiver). HDMI supports standard-definition (SD), enhanced definition (ED), or high-definition (HD) video, plus multi-channel digital audio–all using a single cable. It transmits all ATSC HDTV standards and supports up to 8-channel digital audio, with bandwidth to spare to accommodate future enhancements and requirements.

Reviews by WarBler “I bought this TV from Amazon. That was a decision arrived at only after a long and meticulous research about plasma vs LCD-LED. I also did a comparison between Panasonic S1 and V10 models. I used extensive reviews of postings by owners at the AVS forums. I already owned a Panasonic 50″ plasma, a Samsung LCD 52″ so I have a pretty good idea of what I want and need.

First and foremost I want a TV which is reliable and free of defects. So in comparing Samsung and Panasonic plasmas, I have to say that the reports of buzzing noise from Samsung sets turned me off. About 34% of those onwers polled a avs forums reported the problem. Although this was based on only a few hundred people and thhe sample was not random and statistically meaningless, it does indicate a potential problem. So I ruled out the Samsung plasma.

The difference in price between the S1 and V10 Panasonic is substantial for me. You can see for yourself at Amazon depending on the size you prefer. In addition, the S1 has the same glass panel as the V10 being a 2009 model. What the S1 does not have is Viera Internet connection and more picture control in the menu. The V10 is also thinner and is reported by reviewers and owners to have a better picture.

Most people already have Pandora, Netflix, youtube etc… internet connection through their BD players or Tivo. So internet is really something I do not want nor need. I figure that with Service Menu (SM) adjustements, called offsets of the various parameters posted by professional calibrators, the S1 picture can be tweaked to about 95-98% of the V10 at a substantial savings. ”

Review by 99Diver “I looked at this set and the TC-P65V10 in Best Buy before I purchased it here. Using the same input I could not tell more that a tiny marginal difference in the V10’s 96hz 24p feature and this set without. I also looked at the 60″ KURO and while it did look better calibrated, it was not worth the more than “double the price” premium. I could tell a difference in the price though and back in my in home all I can say is, “WOW what a picture”. This performance available at this Amazon price point is the value of the year in television IMHO.

I bought the new TC-P54G10 in early September and also have a 720P 50″ TH-50PX80U model. While the TC-P65S1 Panasonic does not have THX, I was not as impressed with the THX settings as I thought I would be and prefer to use the custom settings. In my opinion this is still by far the best picture of the three sets I own. It shares the same Neo-PDP glass as the 54G10 but at 65″ the 1080 ability really shows through. Even at the 54″ size I cannot tell the difference with the 720 sets but this 65S1 shines like a star. I watched the Thursday night college football game on ESPNHD and spent more time being amazed at the picture than at the game and it was a darn good game.

This set is in a big room, 19′ x 26′, 12″ ceiling with lots of glass windows behind it and sliding doors. The anti glare works well, really great.
They need to add the ability to use Netflix right from the set and add more picture control ability for fine tuning and calibration of the picture.

Panasonic really knows their stuff. I can’t wait until they come out with a 100″ or better Plasma that folks who are not a Rap-Star can afford.

Don’t hesitate to purchase through Amazon!”

Panasonic TH-58PX60U Sale, Best 58 Inch Plasma HDTV

Panasonic TH-58PX60U 58-Inch Plasma HDTV

Low price + free shipping, Best Deals Panasonic Plasma TVs, Panasonic TH-58PX60U 58-Inch Plasma HDTV

Featuring Panasonic’s 9th generation gas-plasma screen, the 58-inch TH-58PX60U features a width-to-height 16:9 aspect ratio similar to movie theater screens, providing a theater-like experience at home. Its maximum of 29 billion colors and over 3,000 shades of gradation provide exceptionally fine detail for outstanding HDTV reproduction. The set’s built-in ATSC (DTV) tuner pulls HD signals (480p/720p/1080i) right from the airwaves, and its QAM tuner is fully compatible with unscrambled HDTV cable reception. A standard analog NTSC tuner receives standard-definition (SD) programming. It also includes a Secure Digital (SD) memory card slot, enabling you to take an SD card directly from a digital still camera or camcorder and insert it directly into the TV for quick and colorful photo slideshows.

A plasma screen renders vivid colors like you’ve never seen before (as in, up to 29 billion in this case), extremely wide viewing angles (wider, even, than those of most LCD screens), and easy placement due to a plasma monitor’s slim profile–the TH-42PX60U is a mere 3.7 inches deep, one of the slimmest plasmas around–perfect for desk or wall mounting. Brightness tends to be extremely uniform across plasma screens, which are also impervious to the picture distortion and negative color balances that afflict CRT monitors when placed near lighting or sound systems.

The TH-58PX60U features a 1024 x 768-pixel resolution and an amazing contrast ratio of 10000:1. (The higher the contrast ratio, the greater a TV’s ability to display subtle color details and not get washed out by ambient room light.) The 3D Y/C digital comb filter constantly analyzes the three dimensions of picture height, picture width, and picture changes-over-time, to reduce dramatically edge image artifacts while improving transition detail. Other features include V-Chip parental controls, on/off sleep timers, closed-caption decoding, aspect ratio control, and video input labeling.
