Review by 99Diver “I looked at this set and the TC-P65V10 in Best Buy before I purchased it here. Using the same input I could not tell more that a tiny marginal difference in the V10’s 96hz 24p feature and this set without. I also looked at the 60″ KURO and while it did look better calibrated, it was not worth the more than “double the price” premium. I could tell a difference in the price though and back in my in home all I can say is, “WOW what a picture”. This performance available at this Amazon price point is the value of the year in television IMHO.

I bought the new TC-P54G10 in early September and also have a 720P 50″ TH-50PX80U model. While the TC-P65S1 Panasonic does not have THX, I was not as impressed with the THX settings as I thought I would be and prefer to use the custom settings. In my opinion this is still by far the best picture of the three sets I own. It shares the same Neo-PDP glass as the 54G10 but at 65″ the 1080 ability really shows through. Even at the 54″ size I cannot tell the difference with the 720 sets but this 65S1 shines like a star. I watched the Thursday night college football game on ESPNHD and spent more time being amazed at the picture than at the game and it was a darn good game.

This set is in a big room, 19′ x 26′, 12″ ceiling with lots of glass windows behind it and sliding doors. The anti glare works well, really great.
They need to add the ability to use Netflix right from the set and add more picture control ability for fine tuning and calibration of the picture.

Panasonic really knows their stuff. I can’t wait until they come out with a 100″ or better Plasma that folks who are not a Rap-Star can afford.

Don’t hesitate to purchase through Amazon!”

Toshiba 65H84 Sale, Best 65 Inch Rear Projection TV

Toshiba 65H84 65-Inch HD-Ready Rear-Projection TV

Best Deals Toshiba 65 Projection TV, Toshiba 65H84 65-Inch HD-Ready Rear-Projection TV with HDMI Input

A huge picture and beautiful styling are important, but equally so are the refinements within the set that you only see when you experience its incredible picture. Toshiba’s 65-inch widescreen, HDTV-ready 65H84 is a projection television that’s well equipped to make the most of your high-end digital and analog source components.

The 65H84’s exclusive PowerFocus HD lens system was designed specifically for HDTV programming. Most lens systems cannot faithfully reproduce a high-definition signal. PowerFocus HD uses six elements and a quality color-correction system to produce an image that is up to 65 percent sharper than an image produced by standard lens systems. The PowerFocus HD’s higher beam current and finer beam spot provide a 30 percent increase in sharpness and a 10 percent increase in brightness over standard CRTs. Toshiba’s four-element PowerFocus HC lenses offer 50 percent higher contrast than comparable 5-element lenses, giving you clear, deep, three-dimensional images.

The set’s TheaterFine HD super fine-pitch screen uses a .52 mm design to reduce the space between lines on the lenticular screen, thereby sharpening the image. And since not everything you watch will be high-definition in origin (wouldn’t that be nice), CrystalScan HDSC upconverts all video signals (including 480i/p) to 1080i HD. This significantly reduces jagged-line artifacts for a smoother, more natural image. (Selectable 540p, for those who want a progressive-scan image from a progressive-scan source, is available through the onscreen menu.) CableClear DNR+ Digital Noise Reduction circuitry–selectable by input–optimizes poor NTSC signals from antenna or cable by eliminating video noise (snow).

Meanwhile, DFine high-speed velocity-scan modulation improves the definition at picture edges, creating sharper images by slowing the CRT (cathode-ray tube) beam’s horizontal scanning during demanding work–say, when rendering transitions from light to dark parts of an image–and speeding it up when scanning easily rendered sections, like broad dark areas.

A 3D Y/C (4 MB, 10-bit) digital comb filter with Vertical Contour Correction processes RF and composite-video signals for a sharp, clean picture. This advanced filter significantly reduces detail noise, seen as shimmering or flicker, in complex or intricate scenes. The TouchFocus digital convergence system (which creates perfect corner-to-corner focus at the press of a button) and AccuFocus 56-point manual convergence system let you choose the best calibration method for your system.

The 65H84 is loaded with connections of all stripes, including a HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) HDTV input, which gives you a pure, uncompressed video connection with your DTV receiver or set-top box (not included). HDMI supports standard-definition (SD), enhanced definition (ED), or high-definition (HD) video, plus multi-channel digital audio–all using a single cable. It transmits all ATSC HDTV standards and supports up to 8-channel digital audio, with bandwidth to spare to accommodate future enhancements and requirements.

For audio, the 65H84 offers SRS WOW, combining SRS 3D (which creates a wide three-dimensional sound field), TruBass (which boosts bass frequency perception for dramatic low-frequency effects), and Focus (which raises the perceived sound image vertically to clarify voices) to greatly enhance your home-theater sound.

The set’s split-cabinet design allows the cabinet to be divided for ease of delivery and installation.

Reviews by G.Vayez “A great buy from Amazon! Even after shipping costs I saved nearly $300 over B*st B*y and Circ*it C*ty. I can’t believe this unit shipped so fast and in perfect condition to Florida. Ordered late on 25 April and received the unit on 30 April from Fed Ex (estimated delivery date was 29 April - 4 May.) Fed Ex delivery person helped me bring it into my house, which is unusual for curbside shipping. He also told me he could have delivered the TV on 27 April but that was before the shipping date so he held onto it. No sweat though, it was still ahead of schedule.

I’m pleasantly surprised with the TV. One word of advice - don’t buy HDMI hi-def cables from a retail vendor or you’ll pay 5-6 times more than you need to, like $50 for a 6 ft cable which is ridiculous. It’s a digital cable, so the signal is there or it isn’t. There’s no advantage to buying M*nster C*bles or another overpriced brand. I picked up 12 ft cables from a reputable online vendor for $10 each.”
