Reviews by WarBler “I bought this TV from Amazon. That was a decision arrived at only after a long and meticulous research about plasma vs LCD-LED. I also did a comparison between Panasonic S1 and V10 models. I used extensive reviews of postings by owners at the AVS forums. I already owned a Panasonic 50″ plasma, a Samsung LCD 52″ so I have a pretty good idea of what I want and need.

First and foremost I want a TV which is reliable and free of defects. So in comparing Samsung and Panasonic plasmas, I have to say that the reports of buzzing noise from Samsung sets turned me off. About 34% of those onwers polled a avs forums reported the problem. Although this was based on only a few hundred people and thhe sample was not random and statistically meaningless, it does indicate a potential problem. So I ruled out the Samsung plasma.

The difference in price between the S1 and V10 Panasonic is substantial for me. You can see for yourself at Amazon depending on the size you prefer. In addition, the S1 has the same glass panel as the V10 being a 2009 model. What the S1 does not have is Viera Internet connection and more picture control in the menu. The V10 is also thinner and is reported by reviewers and owners to have a better picture.

Most people already have Pandora, Netflix, youtube etc… internet connection through their BD players or Tivo. So internet is really something I do not want nor need. I figure that with Service Menu (SM) adjustements, called offsets of the various parameters posted by professional calibrators, the S1 picture can be tweaked to about 95-98% of the V10 at a substantial savings. ”

After months of research this loyal Sony owner jumped ship.After side by side comparisons and reading countless reviews I determined that the Viera blew the Sony XBR away. The Kuros by Pioneer has priced itself out of the competition for my wallet and to be honest I think you are splitting hairs between the Viera and the Kuros.My dilemna was in choosing between the 58 Inch Viera 800 or the flagship 850U. The lesser priced 800 is the only model of the two that gets the THX certification on it’s picture and is priced around $500.00 less. The 850U has the firmware and ethernet connection so that it’s capabilities are upgradeable.It currrently has the ability to view your Picasa photo’s,watch YouTube videos, and a few other neat things like the one click concierge service for any problems the TV should have as well as world weather.

The Vera Link option works seamlessly with my Panasonic 55 Blu-Ray player. I was able to have the best of both worlds. Although Abes of Maine consistantly had the 800 at he best price around. I was able to buy a refurbished 850U that comes with the 90 day warranty from Panasonic.I paid $2399.00 and I am so happy I did. This TV is in perfect condition and they pack it like it’s the last one on earth.

I bought from Just like New Electronics in case you are looking. I’m amazed at this Picture and all the bells ans whistles the TV has. It’s has th whole family under it’s hypnotic spell.I wanted the cleanest look I could get and replaced my old surround sound system with a Yamaha YSP4000 sound bar. I have no regrets on any of it.By buying the 850U I’m able to stay up to date with all the new ways Panasonic can think of to keep me connected to the world. I love the fact that it has begun to replace my small PC screen and Laptop with 58 inches of mind blowing views. If you can swing it I would not hesitate to buy the 850U. I don’t think the lack of THX certification means anything other than Panasonic not wanting to pay the extra money for the Certification in an effort to keep it way under the Kuros.”

“This is a fantastic tv for the money and includes great functionality. I have owned Samsung HDTVs and was surprised by the ANYnet device control functionality. This allows me to control bluray and dvd players via the television remote through the hdmi cables. The usb port also allows for software updates(firmware) as well as mp3 players and flash drives which can be output to your home theatre via optical cable.

The sound is what can be expected from any flat panel. This tv is great for gaming as well as casual tube surfing. i do not regret this purchase and would reccomend it to anyone provided they understand the IR sensitivity of plasma televisions (any damage to the set is easily avoidable with even a little care and awareness).

The contrast ratio is very good and on par with most midrange and high end plasmas currently available. As an upgrade from a ln46a650 the motion handling of plasma technology is breathtaking as well as an improvement for gaming due to considerably less lag. Dont belive there is a difference bewteen this years plasma and lcd motion handling due to refresh rate? Try playing an FPS and spinning around in a 360 as fast as you can and watch the cross hairs. (Plasma FTW)”
